Tyler Galbraith of Jenkins Marzban Logan LLP led a panel discussion on “resolving the inevitable construction dispute” at the Vancouver Regional Construction Association’s Construction Leadership Forum held in Whistler, B.C. on May 6. The panelists were Jason Glue of Graham Construction and Jonathan Lashin of Houle Electric. Galbraith began by pointing out construction projects are big, complex and often unwieldy. The key to success in any construction project is communication, Galbraith said, and said parties to a construction contract must express expectations at the outset and throughout a project. But, he added, the numerous entities involved and technical complexity of major construction projects makes them susceptible to disputes. “The objective should be for the project to win,” Galbraith said.
